1.8 kg setView product →Modern tiles have changed faster than site practice. Vitrified slabs, glass mosaic and natural stone absorb almost no water, so a traditional cement–sand bed has little to grip — which is why debonding, hollow tiles and cracked joints are so common. A polymer-modified thin-bed adhesive bonds chemically as well as mechanically, holds non-porous tiles, and lays a uniform 3–6 mm bed instead of a thick, uneven mortar heap.
The SUMO S-Series is a ladder, not a lineup: each grade adds bond strength, open time or deformability for harder jobs — small ceramic indoors at one end, large-format vitrified, stone, wet areas and exteriors at the other. Match the grade to the tile, the substrate and the exposure, and the rest of the job gets easier.
Sound, clean, plumb and free of dust, paint or curing compound.
By tile type, tile size, substrate and location — indoors, wet area or exterior.
Spread with the right notch trowel; back-butter large formats for full coverage.
Bed tiles within open time, check coverage, grout after the adhesive cures.
THE PRODUCT TDS IS ALWAYS THE FINAL WORD ON RATIOS, THICKNESS AND CURE TIMES.
For most modern tiles, yes. A thin-bed tile adhesive gives a stronger, more uniform bond than a traditional cement–sand mortar, works on non-porous tiles like vitrified and glass where cement struggles, needs no tile soaking, wastes far less material and lets you tile walls and floors faster. Cement–sand is really only suited to small, porous ceramic on a fresh bed.
Match the grade to the tile, the surface and where it is going. As a rule: S01–S02 for internal ceramic, S02+ once you move outdoors or onto stone, S03–S04 for wet areas, large formats and pools, and Flexit 2K for metal, ply and board substrates.
Yes — S02 and above are suitable for tile-on-tile, provided the existing tiles are sound, well-bonded and clean. Degrease the surface, key it if glazed, and prime where recommended on the datasheet before fixing.
