It cycles from monsoon-wet to afternoon-hot every day, the substrate and the cladding expand at different rates, and gravity punishes any weak bond — from height. That is why exterior fixing calls for high-bond, deformable adhesives (EN 12004 C2 class with S1/S2 deformability) rather than anything that merely works indoors.
The system matters as much as the adhesive: a sound, keyed substrate, full-coverage bedding with back-buttering, movement joints at the spacings the design calls for, and weather protection on exposed faces. SUMO’s façade set pairs exterior-grade adhesives with water-repellent protective coats so the wall sheds weather instead of absorbing it.

Outdoors the bond is cycled by heat, rain and structural movement, and the consequence of failure is a tile falling from height. Exterior fixing therefore needs a high-bond, deformable adhesive — EN 12004 C2 class, ideally with S1/S2 deformability — applied with full coverage. A standard interior adhesive has none of that headroom.
Joints and exposed masonry still take water even when the cladding itself is impervious. A water-repellent coat on exposed faces and properly sealed movement joints keep moisture out of the wall, which protects both the structure and the bond behind the cladding.
