What you’ll need
Step by step
Prepare the surface
The surface must be sound, clean and free of dust, oil and loose material. Dampen (do not flood) absorbent surfaces, and round off internal corners.
Mix Sealcrete with cement into a slurry
Blend SUMO Sealcrete with fresh cement (per the recommended ratio) into a lump-free, brushable slurry. Mix only what you can apply while it is workable.
Reinforce corners and junctions
Bed reinforcing tape into a first pass of slurry at floor-to-wall corners, pipe penetrations and drains — the movement points where waterproofing fails first.
Apply two crossed coats
Brush/roller a full first coat over the whole area, up the walls to the required height. Once it has set enough to over-coat, apply the second coat at right angles for pinhole-free cover.
Cure, then water-test
Let the coating cure, then flood/water-test before tiling or loading. Fix any leak now, not after the finish is on.
What to avoid
Pinholes leak. Apply two full coats, the second crosswise.
Corners and penetrations move and crack. Tape them into the first coat.
Test before tiling — finding a leak after the finish is on is expensive.
