How to use SUMO Ready-Mix Plaster
SUMO Ready-Mix Plaster gives smooth, compact internal and external walls with just added water. Here is the correct application method.
ON THIS PAGE
SUMO Ready-Mix Plaster is a factory-blended plaster designed to give smooth, compact surfaces on internal and external walls — just add water. Consistent factory mixing means fewer cracks and less wastage than site-batched sand-cement plaster.
This guide covers preparing the wall, mixing and applying an even plaster coat.
What you’ll need
Step by step
Prepare and dampen the wall
The masonry must be sound and clean. Rake joints, remove dust, and dampen the wall evenly so it does not pull water from the plaster too fast.
Mix to a workable consistency
Add SUMO Ready-Mix Plaster to clean water and mix to a smooth, workable, lump-free mortar. Let it stand briefly and remix. Mix batches you can apply before they stiffen.
Apply an even coat
Apply the plaster with a trowel to the required thickness in a consistent coat, pressing it well into the surface. For thicker builds, apply in layers rather than one heavy coat.
Rule off and level
Rule off with a straightedge to a flat, true surface, filling hollows as you go, then float to the finish you need.
Cure the plaster
Keep the plaster damp-cured for the recommended period so it gains strength without drying-shrinkage cracks.
Care, tips & what to avoid
- !Dry, dusty backgroundPlaster debonds from dusty or bone-dry walls. Clean and dampen first.
- !One thick coatHeavy coats slump and crack — build up in layers.
- !No curingFast drying causes shrinkage cracks. Keep it damp-cured.
