How to use SUMO LW Plus (waterproofing admixture)
SUMO LW Plus waterproofs concrete and mortar from the inside by dosing the mix water. Here is the correct dosage and method.
ON THIS PAGE
SUMO LW Plus is an integral waterproofing liquid admixture for concrete and mortar, with high water-reducing and pore-blocking ability. Added to the mix, it waterproofs the concrete itself — ideal for sunken slabs, water-retaining structures, external plaster and screeds.
Unlike a coating, LW Plus works from the inside, so correct dosing is everything.
What you’ll need
Step by step
Measure the dosage
Dose SUMO LW Plus at 200 ml per 50 kg bag of cement in the mix (adjust to the specification for your job). Measure it — do not eyeball.
Add it to the mix water
Add the measured LW Plus to the gauging water, then batch the concrete/mortar as normal so it disperses evenly through the mix.
Mix thoroughly
Mix to a uniform, workable consistency. Because LW Plus reduces water demand, you may need less water for the same workability — do not over-water.
Place, compact and cure
Place and compact the concrete/mortar well to eliminate voids, then cure properly — good compaction and curing are essential for the waterproofing to work.
Care, tips & what to avoid
- !Guessing the doseWaterproofing depends on the right dose per cement. Measure at 200 ml / 50 kg cement (or per spec).
- !Over-watering the mixExcess water defeats the pore-blocking effect. LW Plus reduces water demand — use less.
- !Poor compaction/curingVoids and dry-out let water through. Compact and cure well.
